We began Greenbrier Honey Farm in about 2002. Having gotten my first hive in 1998 we had increased to about 100 hives by 2002. We are a "Mom and Pop" business with occasional help from our daughter Emily and several young people who have worked seasonally along the way.
The business has been a source of joy to our lives and the bees have been a means by which many different aspects of Gods creation have been unveiled to us. Bees touch so many aspects of nature − from highlighting the seasons to helping to bring into focus the many different aspects of pollination and the intricacies of nature − the stupendous industry and organization of these little creatures is a source of permanent wonder. After fooling with honeybees for a while, you will never see nature in the same light again. In fact, to those of you who are familiar with C. S. Lewis " The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe," I will say that keeping honeybees has been like a trip into the Wardrobe.
